Corte Real Gallery
Walking into the gallery is like walking into a colourful painting.
An emporium of international art, Corte-Real Art gallery is located in the delightful countryside north of Boliqueime. Exhibitions are presented in themed rooms inside a traditional ‘quinta.’ The structure of the original house has not been altered and each room contains a mixture of beautiful art work, ceramics, exotic lights and unusual arts and crafts.
Galeria Côrte-Real is located in the countryside between Boliqueime and the protected village of Paderne. The pretty ‘quinta’ was once a family home and fifteen years ago their descendent, Pedro Côrte-Real and his partner, Michael Roberts opened it as a location to buy art in the Algarve.
Each room contains a mixture of beautiful artworks and as Michael explains, “We would not place anything in the gallery that we would not want in our own home.” Previously an Art Director, Michael worked for many years in Paris. Escaping from the corporate world, he and Pedro have created a joyous ambience inside the building, on the terrace and in the garden. It has been described by Portuguese Vogue as “a very special place to visit after the beach.”
